Confessional heritage
Posted on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 at 9:41 pmTurning our backs to our confessional heritage then or ignoring that heritage from the start does no one any favors, neither in the church nor outside of it. We can be thankful that there was a Reformation era and that confessions arose as a result of that era. Far from confusing and dividing, far from causing people from straying from the apostolic age, the era of the Reformation and the documents that flowed from it clarified the truth so that people could be unified all the more in the apostolic truths of the gospel of grace in Jesus Christ. That is why it is good to be identified with the Reformation, and why it is worth remembering it when October rolls around—and anytime for that matter.
