A day in the life of me!

Posted on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at 4:44 pm

I woke up early and decided to take my dog for a walk. She is a one year old Siberian husky. It was a quick 10 minute walk early this morning at 7am. While on this walk we went by the man-made lake/pond and saw a few ducks which my dog wanted to play with. I am currently working on an assignment for university and procrastinating, its due in a week so I still have enough time to get it done. Later today I will be going to class it’s only for an hour so that not too bad we are nearing the end of semester.

My First Guitar

I used to play guitar – or tried to, when I was in high school. My mother bought me some old beat-up electric guitar and an amplifier at a yard sale. It was more expensive than it should have been, considering its condition, but neither her nor I knew anything about guitars at the time. At the time I didn’t know it, but she couldn’t actually afford that. She didn’t even have the money on hand; we had to ask the owner to hold it for us while we went to the bank to withdraw the cash for it. It turned out that I wasn’t very good at guitar and eventually I quit playing, but I still have that guitar. I pick it up once in a while, tune it as best it can still be tuned, and play some easy songs on it. It reminds me of what sacrifice is, and how easy it can be to sacrifice without regret for someone you love.

Finding Things

It seems like whenever you go to a store, intent on purchasing your usual product – let’s say toothpaste, you walk in and have an entire wall of different varieties to choose from. Then you spend twenty minutes carefully reading the labeling, to be certain you’re getting the right thing. What’s worse is that manufacturers like to keep things “fresh”, usually by drastically altering their packaging every few months, leading to more confusing. I have found myself buying fewer items in stores as a direct result of this frustration, and turning instead to online purchasing. Sure, it costs a little more, but thinking about all the time spent driving, searching, and then probably returning something when you accidentally buy the wrong thing, it seems worth the cost.

Most of the time, I advocate abstinence from television viewing. But there is one show which I reluctantly admit I cannot live without, and that is The Daily Show. I kind of a news fiend as a kid, imagining that I was keeping tabs on the world through the portal of the television. Of course, upon growing up and distinguish spin from reality, my attitude toward the news became more jaded. The Daily Show fills my need for news, while still appealing to my newfound cynicism for the news conglomerate. It’s an intelligent, thought-provoking show. And I admit, the kid in me still enjoys the potty humor. Who doesn’t?
