Today I wore biking shorts, fat-tire biking jersey and biking shoes with my helmet and biking gloves. After they got all sweaty and dirty I changed into a knee length Patagonia dress that is various shades of blue cotton. Very simple, yet very feminine and allows me to show off the muscles I got on my earlier bike ride. I threw a Gap denim jacket over top just in case the weather changes throughout the day and depending on where I go since we have many microclimates here in the Bay Area. I wore my very old keen slip-ons – they are red and spice up even the most boring outfit. I really need to buy a new pair though.

Boring as it may be and as much as my younger self would huff and puff at me for saying this, I love to listen to the news. I download various versions of it every day and try to stay in tuned with the news programs that are the least biased and most worldly. On Friday nights I watch Washington Week on PBS for the latest analysis of the week in politics and throughout the day I tune into the BBC World news so I don’t live in a bubble of nationalism. When I am not listening to the news, I enjoy half hour comedies but since the end of Seinfeld nothing really hits home as a must-see.

It was coming up to Halloween, and like every year I like to take my dog trick or treating with me, This year is no different. So I went to the shopping mall to have a look for some good costumes for me and my dog. Yes I dress my dog for Halloween!! I’m lucky because the shopping center were I go there is a small shop dedicated to providing Halloween costumes for large dogs, specially for those freak dog owners like me that enjoy to dress up there dogs!! This year I brought a nice batman outfit for him!! The breed of mine is a pug, so u can imagine how funny he looks in his little batman outfit and his pointy hat. Look out for us this Halloween!! If we come knocking at your door please be kind to us!

My daily routine involves waking at 7pm, rather groggily. Making tea for myself and my husband and herding my oldest two to get dressed for school. I then make the lunches and serve the kids breakfast at the breakfast counter. I then run after my two-year old trying to convince her to wear matching and/or clean clothes. After all three eat breakfast my husband hurries them out the door to get them to school. During the morning hours I will do the shopping, take a bike ride, clean the bathrooms etc. About mid-way through the day I go to pick up the littlest one. She refuses to nap so we usually run errands or hang at a park until it is time to pick up her big sisters. Then the madness starts. We run to swimming, then to tennis. Then we come home and try to complete homework while the youngest watches Dora and starts to fall apart from not napping all day. Then all five of us sit down at 6pm to enjoy dinner together.
